About

Hayden wants to grow a vegetable garden but things don't go quite as he planned. With the help of his family and the local farm stand it all turns out and he learns a valuable lesson in commerce. This is a great book to read before a trip to the Farmer's market. You can have a discussion with your young reader on where the vegetables come from, who grows them and how they get to the market. Have your child pick out something to try they have not had before. You will be surprised at the results

Praise for this book

Hayden's Garden gives a happy reminiscent look at growing up on a farm. Hayden's excitement and disappointments involved in growing his own garden, is realistic to how a child would feel in this situation. I loved that the pictures express the feelings of the characters and life on a farm. I'm looking forward to reading other Hayden books by Brenda M. Spalding

The joyful and loving relationship between grandparent and grandchild is beautifully portrayed in this heartwarming book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the beautiful illustrations.

Hayden made gardening look fun, even though it can be ALOT of work! Great story to introduce kids to gardening. Loved the artwork.
